"Please Run" by A. Craig Newman
Writer's Notes:
There was a time when I had significant Writer's Block and feared that I never would write again. During that time, I was dealing with a lot negative emotions, my temper being one of them. I thought no one really understood why I try to guard my emotions so carefully. This poem was one of the first I wrote after that hiatus. It's very short and simple and helped me find my voice again. Think of it as something a Doctor Jekyll would write to describe his inner battle with Mister Hyde. - ACN

I hold the mad dog's leash. He holds my rage.
The lunatic I have pinned stares up with my face.
In my chest swirls the storm with my name.
I grow tired.
Please.
Run.
