"Heather's Guadian" by A. Craig Newman
Writer's Notes:
Heather is my former sister-in-law and she used to have a man-made pond behind her house. She picked up a tip that a good way to have a bug-free pond was to have frogs in the pond. For some reason, that notion - a frog having a job and knowing what it is - struck a chord with me. I wrote this poem as a toast to everyone who has put in a hard day's work, served their purpose, and decide to just kick back and have some fun. - ACN

Before my verdant blind,
Over Her clear pond,
A daring fly passes.
My tongue flashes
Restoring still air.
Work now done,
I leap for the night sky
And ripple calm water.
Over Her clear pond,
A daring fly passes.
My tongue flashes
Restoring still air.
Work now done,
I leap for the night sky
And ripple calm water.
