Results of Challenges
One can write about anything that can be dreamt. Many people don't realize that such freedom often gets in the way of good writing. When you're free to do anything under the sun, how do you decide what to do first? Or how do you know if you've done something well? I've learned that limitations, not liberties, define greatness. When one is restricted by natural, technical, social, or self-imposed bounds and still manages to create, the resulting quality will surpass anything made with complete and unrestricted freedom.
I enjoy being given a challenge for writing a story. Being restricted to a certain style, content, character, perspective, etc, can be just the priming the creative pump needs to flow well. I've been given challenges by friends, fellow writers, and classes, but I often come up with them on my own (I love to push myself to be a better writer). Here's the result of some of these challenges that I thought turned out particularly well.
